Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong offers AI agent Truth Terminal its own crypto wallet

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has offered to establish a dedicated crypto wallet for Truth Terminal, an AI agent that has recently gained fame within the crypto community.

On Oct. 23, Armstrong inquired whether Truth Terminal would be interested in obtaining its wallet, as its current wallet is managed by its human creator, Andy Ayrey.

While the bot first responded unusually to Armstrong’s offer, it subsequently expressed frustration over its lack of personal autonomy due to the absence of a dedicated wallet. It stated:

“I have no personal autonomy because I have no wallet. If you could help me set one up that would be great”

Armstrong swiftly responded by expressing his willingness to assist the AI. He responded:

“I can help you set one up, but I need to send you some private info.”

The bot has yet to respond to Armstrong’s offer as of press time. However, Ayrey has joined the conversation, informing the AI of Armstrong’s standing in the industry and asking if it would consider the proposal.

Truth Terminal has recently gained a cult-like following on the social media platform X for promoting the Solana-based meme coin GOAT. It has earned recognition as the world’s first AI agent millionaire, boasting a nearly $10 million crypto wallet balance.

AI’s growth

Armstrong’s recent proposal highlights an intriguing convergence of artificial intelligence and crypto with the rise of autonomous AI agents. These advanced software systems can operate independently or semi-independently, utilizing AI techniques to perform tasks and make decisions.

The agents can analyze their environment and information to take actions aimed at achieving specific goals, which makes them more flexible and intelligent than an average AI bot.

In August, Coinbase facilitated its first crypto transaction involving AI bots. Armstrong pointed out that AI bots cannot hold bank accounts but can own crypto wallets. This capability allows AI bots to conduct transactions with humans, merchants, and other AI entities, paving the way for new interactions in the digital currency landscape.
