The famous record label will also be utilizing its virtual LAND plots purchased within The Sandbox to be used as a place to host virtual concerts. Warner Music did not specify the details regarding the artists that will be performing in the new musical Metaverse, however, it is to be noted that the label is home to many reputed music artists including Ed Sheeran, Elektra, Erato Lizzo, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

According to the official press release, the following partnership marks the first venture of WMG exploring the realm of the Metaverse and NFTs. According to Oana Ruxandra, the chief digital officer & EVP, Business Development at Warner Music Group:

“Our partnership with The Sandbox adds a new layer of possibility in the metaverse, with the ownership of the virtual real estate. As a first-mover, Warner Music has secured the equivalent of beachfront property in the metaverse. On the LAND, we’ll develop persistent, immersive social music experiences that defy real-world limitations and allow our artists and their fans to engage like never before”

Moreover, the “virtual estate” will also act as a “hybrid space” accommodating a virtual musical theme park and a concert venue.

“As a former entertainment executive, I’m very excited to have one of the biggest music companies in the world with some of the most talented artists joining The Sandbox to create talent-oriented experiences,” as stated by Bertrand Levy, VP of Global Partnerships at The Sandbox

The Sandbox is known to have established several partnerships with leading names traversing different industries including Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, and Adidas.  According to Coingecko, The Sandbox currently ranks as the third leading game cryptocurrency after Decentraland and Axie Infinity with an average market capitalization of $3.2 billion.

The official press release further states that The Sandbox will also be holding a LAND sale at a later date which will enable the fans and music enthusiasts to purchase desired LAND plots near the WMG metaverse venue.

Sébastian Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox also shared his comments on the following partnership and added:

“..This strategic partnership with Warner Music Group brings the open metaverse one step forward in the direction of fan-owned and community-driven initiatives”

With its expansive reach encompassing nearly 70 countries, Warner Music Group is one of the leading record labels that hosts a variety of global musical artists and musical sensations. Last year, the company had announced its partnership with Genies, a startup that creates cartoon-like avatars and later sells them to Dapper Labs Flow Blockchain.
