The NFT and Metaverse ecosystem is bustling with a large number of different businesses landing on the space.

The types have also been more diverse.

We only saw a couple of sectors jumping on the bandwagon last year, but this year has witnessed active engagements of almost all markets.

The sports industry is the latest to catch the wave.

Just In: David Beckham Entering The Metaverse

David Beckham, a famous football star, an inspiring public figure, and a successful businessman is now the face of DigitalBits.

On the official Twitter account, DigitalBits shared a video of Beckham kicking a virtual globe resembling a soccer ball, which subsequently opened a portal to the Metaverse.

According to the latest announcement, England legend has been appointed as a global brand ambassador for DigitalBits blockchain. With this new role, Beckham will work on spreading the transformative power of the DigitalBits blockchain to the masses.

DigitalBits blockchain is the first-layer protocol enabling NFTs, branded currencies, stablecoins to tokenize assets and support various brands’ projects built on its network.

The protocol aims to apply the blockchain-based solution to achieve great speed and efficiency.

Given Beckham’s close association with the brand, this partnership will facilitate DigitalBits’ collaboration with worldwide businesses including such as Adidas, Maserati, Tudor, Sands, Diageo, and EA.

For nearly two decades, Beckham has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, supporting and defending children’s rights.

The star has over 138 million online followers and 9 billion annual views on social channels. Clearly, Beckham is one of the most influential stars of this era.

In addition to the move, Beckham also plans to release a series of NFTs and other blockchain-based digital assets on the sustainable DigitalBits blockchain. The star expressed his thoughts on the collaboration with DigitalBits:

To wit,

“I am always keen to find new ways to connect with my fans across the world. The moment I spoke with AI and the DigitalBits team, I knew that this was a major opportunity to create new experiences for my fans online. I have always taken pride in working with the best teams and I am so excited to work on my NFT collections and more innovations in the future.”

Sports Gather In The Virtual Space

Earlier this week, the four-time Grand Slam singles champion, Naomi Osaka, entered the Metaverse under a deal with the crypto exchange FTX.

The tennis queen has joined legendary champions from a variety of sports, including Tom Brady (rugby), Shohei Ohtani (baseball), and Stephen Curry (basketball) on the FTX ambassadors’ list.

In addition to her new role, Naomi and FTX are also working on content production in efforts to strengthen the global multicultural customer base that FTX has been working to expand recently.

Naomi’s diverse roots in Haiti and Japan make her the perfect fit for the exchange’s global value orientation.

The appeal of the virtual world from recent predictions is that the metaverse and Web3 will eventually replace the current Internet.

Not only sports stars, but also famous sports clubs have lately immersed themselves in the metaverse ecosystem. Football clubs are currently leading the race, with a long list of Premier League teams and others getting on board.

On March 24, Liverpool announced a collaboration with the renowned auction house Sotheby’s to offer an NFT collection exclusively for fans.

The NFT collection will be divided into two sections: a one-of-a-kind set of 24 Legendary NFTs and a Hero edition NFT series.

The auction will begin on Wednesday, March 30, and will end on Friday, April 1.

With a growing market, the idea is to connect fans with their favorite football players. In addition, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Liverpool FC’s official charity, the LFC Foundation, to assist community and charity projects.

We witness football, tennis, rugby, basketball, and other sports. It appears that it is just a matter of time before all sports gather in the metaverse.
