The Tron sci-fi movie was released around 40 years ago. The movie was released by Walt Disney and produced by Donald Kushner. The latter is reminiscing about the film’s success and is set to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) project dubbed Cryptosaurs.
Tron producer set to release Cryptosaurs NFT project
In a recent interview with Cointelegraph, Kushner discussed the metaverse and his thoughts on the same when creating the Tron movie. He said that the film was created on the idea that intellectual property and games would form a big part of the global creator community, and centralized and decentralized entities would fight to control intellectual property.
Cryptosaurs is a new project that will be created in partnership with Animoca Brands and Forj. The project features collectible NFT characters, with an egg drop set to commence later this year. Every egg is a mystery box with a line of code. The holders will receive specified rewards of Cryptosaur that can be used within the metaverse.
Your capital is at risk.
The objective of the production team is for the holders of the Cryptosaur to display their NFTs within play-to-earn games. These NFTs can also be used in virtual reality displays, feature films, and fine art as avatars for the metaverse and other media types.
Kushner as a crypto enthusiast
Kushner has also shown his commitment to navigating the next stage in the digital revolution. He said that they invested in cryptocurrencies in 2018 as an experiment with his colleague Mike Bonifer.
Bonifer is a publicist on Tron and author of the title “The Art of Tron.” Kushner said that Bonifer believes that crypto assets and NFTs could be used to finance film and streaming content. Last year, Kushner, alongside John Scheele, launched Gumbotron, a Web3 studio focused on metaverse storytelling.
Kushner also added that the influential legacy of the Tron film could be observed in several gaming and entertainment areas. He also mentioned that some of the popular names in the gaming sector were involved in the Tron Atari game.
Hal Finney, one of the early recipients of Bitcoin, worked on the TRX Atari game. The founder of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, also worked at Atari at the tender age of 13. According to Kushner, the pioneers of the cyberpunk genre were also influenced by the success of the Tron film.
