Bitcoin Takes Over Las Vegas Sphere: First Crypto To Be Displayed

Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, took over the Las Vegas Sphere over the weekend. The flagship crypto was displayed on the largest LED screen in the world as part of Crypto.com’s anniversary. Despite the excitement, a discussion sparked regarding Dogwifhat’s campaign to bring the memecoin to the Sphere.

Bitcoin Takes Over The Las Vegas Strip

On Sunday night, the Las Vegas skyline was captured by the largest cryptocurrency in the world for a minute and a half after being displayed in the Sphere. The spherical venue contains the largest interior and exterior wraparound LED displays worldwide, worth $2.3 billion.

The Sphere displayed a video with a massive Bitcoin logo taking over the Las Vegas Strip before turning into rotating golden coins with the BTC logo. As a result, the flagship cryptocurrency became the first ever crypto to be showcased on the Sphere’s screens.

The ad was courtesy of the crypto exchange Crypto.com, which was celebrating its eighth anniversary. The exchange shared a fragment of the video on different social media platforms, stating that it wanted to give recognition to the protocol that made it all possible.

For the finale of our 8th anniversary, we’re recognizing the protocol that started it all.

Moreover, locals reported spotting the ad, with some users stating that Bitcoin “instantly became the coolest cryptocurrency.” Others expressed their disbelief when seeing the massive logo on the screen as they passed by.

Community members also shared their appreciation for the milestone. X users praised the crypto exchange’s ad, saying, “Now that’s how to get the adoption ball rolling!” and calling it “crazy marketing.” Additionally, Micostrategy’s co-founder Michael Saylor reacted to the news on X, telling its followers to “get used to seeing Bitcoin everywhere.”

What Happened To The Sphere WIF Hat?

In the replies to the Bitcoin ad, community members started to discuss the Dogwifhat community initiative to bring the memecoin sensation to the Las Vegas Sphere. “Bitcoin is on the Sphere before dogwifhat,” one X user said.

In March, a fundraiser campaign started to display WIF on the world’s largest LED screen for a week. “Wif on Sphere” aimed to raise $650,000 to achieve the feat, which was quickly met by the community. The target was surpassed by nearly $50,000 in the following days.

This achievement fueled the token’s bullish momentum, propelling the price to a new ATH of $3.36. Additionally, it displayed the support of the WIF community, memecoins popularity, and the fresh marketing strategies used by the crypto community.

Four months later, the community has not seen the “Sphere WIF hat” take over Las Vegas. Many people who donated to the initiative have questioned the campaign’s organizers, which includes crypto trader Ansem. The trader has received massive backlash for the delay in the campaign promises.

Various donors believe they have been scammed, while others think the crypto ad won’t happen and have requested a refund. Despite the doubts, the organizers have repeatedly assured us that they are working to make “wif on Sphere” happen soon.

As some pointed out, the recent Crypto.com’s Bitcoin ad could have paved the way for WIF’s campaign. Users highlighted that many venues are reluctant to display crypto-related ads because of regulations, which could present a problem for a community-led campaign. Ultimately, it remains to be seen when will the Las Vegas Sphere be WIF hat.
