Dogecoin and Shiba Inu Added To AMC’s Mobile App As Payment Option

AMC Theaters has announced its mobile app now supports Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and other crypto tokens for online payments.

AMC Theater has earlier promised that it will soon start accepting more cryptocurrencies for movie tickets, and the company has made good on the promise.

Chief Executive Officer of AMC Theaters, Adam Aron, in a Twitter post, confirmed that the new addition of cryptocurrencies is in partnership with cryptocurrency payment service provider Bitpay.

Following the addition of the tokens, AMC now accepts online payments for its movie tickets using those cryptocurrencies. This is in addition to other payment options available on the AMC online payment portal. However, prospective ticket holders are advised to update to the latest version of its app through Google Pay and Apple Pay to take advantage of the additional options. With the acceptance of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, the company is not facilitating crypto users via a wide range of digital asset payment options.

More Companies Adopt Crypto As Payment Option

The recent announcement by AMC on the acceptance of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu comes after Rappi, a Colombian delivery app, announced that it has launched a pilot program in Mexico to accept crypto payments. Rappi has several operation offices in Latin American countries.

The challenging environment for cryptocurrencies, as a result of regulatory demands, has not affected the adoption of digital currencies. More companies in the mainstream have embraced digital currencies as payment methods for their goods and services. Dogecoin has also drawn increased interest from several merchants as the token continues to increase in popularity as a payment option.

In March 2021, crypto ATM provider Coinflip announced that it has listed Dogecoin on its 1,800 ATMs across the U.S. During the same month, the Dallas Mavericks added Dogecoin to its payment plan, giving fans and supporters more options to pay for tickets, jerseys, and other sports items.

Also last year, Revolut announced that it has Dogecoin following the increase in popularity of the meme-based token among retail investors all over the world.
