As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House, his social media accounts are promoting new merchandise called Trump Memes, including a cryptocurrency called “$TRUMP.” Many social media users were suspicious, wondering if the accounts were hacked since the posts appeared unusual

Trump’s official X (formerly Twitter) and Truth Social accounts shared the announcement about a new Solana-based memecoin, $TRUMP.

“My NEW Official Trump Meme is HERE! It’s time to celebrate everything we stand for: WINNING! Join my very special Trump Community. GET YOUR $TRUMP NOW,” the post read, linking to a website. Notably, within hours, $TRUMP had a market cap of nearly $7.5 trillion.

Trading volumes approached $1 billion, and the coin’s value surged over 300% within minutes, reaching $7.1, up from $0.18 at the start. The token launched with 200 million coins, out of a total supply of 1 billion that will be released gradually over the next three years.

How To Buy The TRUMP Memecoin?

The TRUMP meme coin can be purchased via debit card or cryptocurrency, granting holders a membership in the Trump Meme Community, which promotes a culture of success and optimism.

To purchase TRUMP, one must use a Solana-based exchange like Jupiter and a non-custodial wallet like Phantom wallet. The contract address is listed on CoinMarketCap and SolScan. To purchase, paste the address into the coin search bar, as fake Trump memecoins are already available (if this one is considered real). This will allow the purchase in SOL or other SOL-compatible tokens.

According to Cygaar, a blockchain engineer, the new meme coin project is likely created by the team behind Trump’s previous NFT project since their websites share several technical similarities. Besides, Slorg, a member of Jupiter’s Core Working Group, said $TRUMP has been verified and listed on Jupiter Exchange.

As per The Trump Meme website, the assets are minted through Solana, a blockchain platform.  The website features a meme of President Trump with his fist in the air and his signature, minted through Solana, a blockchain platform. The product description explains that on July 13, 2024, President Trump faced death and came up fighting, making the meme a “piece of history

No Political Agenda?

The Trump Meme website also states that it is not political and has no involvement with any political campaign or office. Notably, Trump and his family have been promoting both ridiculous and real products during the 2024 campaign and as his inauguration approaches. They have endorsed a version of the holy book, a Les Paul-style six-string guitar from “Trump Guitars,” and other products include gold Trump sneakers, assassination attempt cologne, and $100,000 watches.

Trump also announced in September that he and his family are starting a crypto business called World Liberty Financial. While the $TRUMP token has gained attention , its true value and future remain uncertain. Its potential as a meme coin or a significant digital asset is yet to be seen.
