Metaplanet, a publicly listed Japanese company known for its Bitcoin investments, has appointed Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly created Strategic Board of Advisors. The company made the announcement in a post on X.

This is a big step in Metaplanet’s goal to lead the way in Bitcoin adoption and strengthen its position in the global Bitcoin economy. The newly established board will include influential voices and experts from around the world, all focused on driving Bitcoin forward and shaping the future of finance.

The company believes that Eric Trump, known for his success in real estate, finance, and brand development, is a strong advocate for digital assets and will bring valuable experience to the team.

Metaplanet’s stock is currently trading at $4,730 JPY, up over 17% in the past day.

Eric Trump’s appointment highlights Metaplanet’s commitment to bringing in top talent to help achieve its goals. As the company grows its Bitcoin treasury and develops new financial products, it stays focused on creating long-term value for its shareholders.

Metaplanet Stacks More BTC

Recently, Metaplanet expanded its crypto portfolio, acquiring an additional 150 Bitcoin (BTC) for approximately $12.5 million. This latest purchase brings Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 3,200 BTC, with a total investment of about $266.2 million.

In a move to support its Bitcoin strategy, Metaplanet also raised 2 billion yen (about $13.3 million) through a successful bond issuance. This is part of the firm’s goal to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. CEO Simon Gerovich shared that the firm has been aggressively pursuing its Bitcoin investment strategy since April 2024.
