American pay television network, Home Box Office (HBO), has released its highly anticipated documentary on Bitcoin (BTC) and its mystery creator Satoshi Nakamoto dubbed The Bitcoin Mystery. In the documentary, HBO journalist concluded that Peter Todd is the real creator of Bitcoin, based on the original conversations with Satoshi.

The documentary highlighted that Todd accidentally revealed himself as Satoshi by forgetting to switch accounts in the original conversations with Satoshi.

However, Todd denies the allegations that he is the real creator of Bitcoin despite being an early contributor to the blockchain technology.

Who Is Satoshi?

Following the HBO documentary series, most of the Polymarket traders, who had placed their bets on Len Sassaman as the Bitcoin creator, were rekt. The real identity of Satoshi remains unknown to date, fifteen years after the official Bitcoin launch.

On-chain sleuths have in the past attempted to dox Satoshi by sending some Bitcoins to the wallets believed to be under the control of the original creator. However, Satoshi has not made any Bitcoin movement since the initial mining of more than 1 million coins.

Earlier this year, a high court in London ruled that Australian businessman Craig Wright is not Satoshi after attempting to gain legal control of the Bitcoin whitepaper.

Market Impact

According to Ki Young Ju, the founder and CEO of CryptoQuant, revealing the real identity of Satoshi could be bearish for the market. Moreover, Bitcoin gained initial adoption momentum due to its security features including higher privacy than the traditional financial system.

According to most crypto enthusiasts, all Bitcoin users should be considered Satoshi, and investors should focus on the bigger  picture of blockchain technology updating the siloed financial systems.
